What is Sunflower oil?
Sunflower oil is, like all vegetable fats and oils, a triglyceride (i.e. a glycerol backbone linked to three fatty acids by ester bonds). Sunflower oil is characterized by a high proportion of linoleic acid (40-68%) and oleic acid (22-50%). Other fatty acids present in significant amounts are: palmitic acid (5-7%) and stearic acid (3-5%).

- Number EC: 232-273-9
Origin and production of sunflower oil
This oil is obtained by extracting the seed of the sunflower (Helianthus annuus), a plant native to the American continent (specifically North and Central America), although it is currently cultivated intensively worldwide due to the great potential and use of this oil.
Properties of sunflower oil
Sunflower oil is a medium yellowish, pale liquid at room temperature. Its melting range is between -16 and -18 ºC.
Sunflower oil has a total of 880 kcal per 100 grams.
Among its many applications, and like the vast majority of fats, human food stands out.
Characteristics and applications of sunflower oil
Sunflower oil is an important source of energy due to its high yield in calories per gram metabolized. Its most important and recognized use is in cooking, mainly as an oil for frying and/or grilling, just as olive oil is used.
Other important applications converge in different areas such as medicine or in industries like cosmetics. In addition, its derivatives are also widely used as alternative fuels (biodiesel), soaps, lubricants, surfactants, advanced detergents, paints, insecticides, veterinary, among many others.
Sunflower seed oil is one of the most important oleochemical products in our industry due to its multiple applications and functions.
Oleochemicals are a very useful medium in various industries and have become a great competitor to chemicals due to the efficiency and quality of substances of natural origin.
Like chemical formulations and finishes, oleochemicals are a very profitable solution, not only at an economic level, but also cost-effective for solving all kinds of needs. The great development of the oleochemical industry has led to the globalization of our sector, becoming one of the most profitable and valued alternatives in recent years.
Other uses
The scarcity of oil and other supplies has led to the search for new, more affordable and environmentally friendly resources to further develop all kinds of products and materials. Oleochemicals are born as an answer to this latent need, emerging as a means of exponential value.
The wide range of possibilities offered by this type of oil is quite broad due to its multiple properties, which allows its adaptation and use in different fields and industrial areas. Our products follow very demanding and meticulous processes in order to make the most of each and every one of the possibilities that are requested in the market.
